West of Scotland students

Students from HND Technical Theatre course attend the Beacon every Monday throughout the academic
year to further their classroom learning with hands-on experience. The nature of the course means that

We provide practical teaching in:
• health and safety
• manual handling
• ladder/telescope training
• basic electrical understanding and experience with fault finding
• practical lighting experience including working at height and computer programming
• practical sound operation including QLab instruction for theatre, studio recording and playback
• practical rigging experience including counterweight flying, slings anchors and some basic rigging
