A partnership project driven by many local groups and organisations, Galoshans is supported by Inverclyde Council and Creative Scotland.
Galoshans is firmly rooted in the heritage of Inverclyde. Originally a piece of folk theatre performed in Scotland, the men of the town would dress-up and chap on the doors of the houses to perform a play of death and resurrection. In most places this tradition became known as ‘guising’ or ‘trick or treating’.But in Inverclyde, the word Galoshans never really left as local children still dress up on Hallowe’en and ‘Go Galoshans’.
Want to be part of the Two Worlds Hallowe’en Parade on Sat 28 Oct?
Assemble at 5pm for departure at 5.30pm at the Waterfront cinema.
Get dressed up for this year’s ghoulish Hallowe’en Parade! Fast becoming the favourite day of the year, join in and make a racket with youth samba bands, strut your ‘spectacular’ stuff as the Parade weaves its way from the waterfront to Custom House which will have a ghostly transformation.
